Make sure the problem is defined
A useful repair quotation starts with the findings: which run is affected, what has been observed and which issue the work is intended to address.
If there is an existing CCTV report, send it to the contractor. Where inspection was incomplete, clarify whether more investigation is needed before agreeing a fixed repair scope.
Separate the stages
Investigation, cleaning, repair and reinstatement are different tasks. Ask which are included and whether the work relies on further findings once the pipe is exposed.
For excavation, discuss access, the affected surface and handling of excavated material. For a lining repair, discuss preparation and how suitability will be established.
Ask about completion evidence
Before work starts, agree what checks or records will be provided on completion. Depending on the job, inspection images or notes can help explain the repaired section.
A repaired local defect does not automatically mean every branch on the property has been surveyed or renewed. Ask what remains outside the agreed scope.
Compare like with like
Two quotations can cover different lengths, surfaces or repair methods. Compare the defined work and exclusions before concluding that one contractor is pricing the same job for less.
Send Prime the postcode, report, photographs and access information. We can discuss targeted repairs, patch lining or excavation where appropriate and explain the proposed scope.
